Melissa, I just want to say a quick word of thanks! In May of ‘04 I was injured in a car crash. A guy hit me head on: his fault. It broke my nose, my ribs, my sternum, my right leg femur broke in half and split to the top, tib and fib shattered. They put in titanium rods, pins, screws and nails. All of my front internal organs were bruised including a lacerated spleen. My feelings were hurt and broken, too. I was in a hospital bed at my house for 3 months. I could not get out of bed for any reason. I was in a wheel chair for 3 more months. Then, I got a walker, then crutches, then a cane. Yada Yada. So, I had rehabbed my body, but my voice was different. I had no stamina after a few years of not singing in a band, just the occasional scareokee club to get a fix.
I got an audition for a band. I went and then had to audition head to head against a guy I’ve watched in bands since I was 15. I got the Zen DVD, took the “dump” AND THE GIG IS MINE!! Every day I progress. My voice is different now and this time it’s from the heart. I’m not channeling other singers anymore. I still have a long way to go. The 1st show is in 23 days, but I am confident. Sunday’s practice went well. Getting back in a band is HUGE for me. Last year, I didn’t know if I’d be able to walk much less sing. Now, I’m doing both. So I’m feeling pretty good about things. Thank you!
